Case Study 01
Marine Growth Removal from Seawater Cooling Systems
Severe marine growth and shell fouling caused heavy blockage of the seawater inlet strainers, restricting flow and significantly reducing cooling capacity.
A leading offshore operator faced extensive fouling caused by crustacea, mollusca and organic residues. Conventional high pressure jetting presented a risk of damaging the fine mesh structure within the system, potentially leading to downstream contamination.
The Lancer SRC Solution
AIC proposed Lancer SRC, a high performance cleaning solution designed to dissolve marine shells and disperse organic fouling, including protein matrices and algal slimes. A diluted solution was circulated through the system in a closed loop for just over six hours at ambient temperature, followed by a clean water rinse.

Case Study 02
Wax Deposit Removal from North Sea Transmission Pipeline
Severe wax deposition caused significant blockages, restricting pipeline flow and creating major challenges during pigging operations.
A major operator experienced severe wax build-up in an 8″ North Sea transmission pipeline, with deposits reaching 39 mm thickness around the 5,000 m mark and extending further along the line. Previous cleaning attempts using diesel and condensate failed to restore normal flow.
The DEWAX RX Solution
AIC introduced DEWAX RX, a high-performance chemical solution designed to dissolve, thin and disperse wax deposits across multiple wax compositions. Laboratory testing using actual wax samples confirmed its dissolution efficiency. Following a successful field trial demonstrating wax softening and dispersion, a full-scale treatment was carried out over five weeks, using multiple pumped batches between production runs.

Case Study 03
Hydrocarbon Removal from Flowlines Before Decommissioning
Hydrocarbon residues within five platform flowlines created safety and environmental challenges ahead of decommissioning and removal.
A major North Sea Operator required five flowlines to be safely prepared for removal. Due to their complex configuration and restricted access, conventional HP jetting was unsuitable, creating a need for a controlled, non-intrusive cleaning approach.
The AIC CLEAN-UP DG-N Solution
AIC developed a low-manning, non-intrusive cleaning work scope using AIC CLEAN-UP DG-N, a high-performance, non-flammable crude oil remover. The product chemically circulated through the flowlines to break down and disperse sludges, emulsions and hydrocarbon residues, leaving internal metal surfaces clean. Following the cleaning cycle, a potable water flush achieved residual hydrocarbons below 30 ppm, confirming the required cleaning standard.
